(KRON) -- President Donald Trump said that the United States government would be banning the terms "AI" and "Artificial Intelligence." The president made the comments in a post on his Truth Social social media network on Tuesday.
Trump's post was apparently in response to a Wall Street Journal story and referenced his own preferred name for the technology, "Super Intelligence," or "SI."
"When will The Wall Street Journal start calling Artificial Intelligence (AI), a very bad and inaccurate name, SI (Super Intelligence), the name which virtually everyone else is using, or soon will be," the president posted.

"In short, order we will be officially BANNING the term, "AI/Artificial Intelligence," in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy," the president added, signing off as usual with, "Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
For reasons that are not entirely clear, the president has made it something of a personal mission to rebrand AI as "SI." Last month, Trump signed an executive order directing the executive branch to refer to the technology as SI, rather than AI.
Despite most people, including within the tech industry, still referring to the technology as AI, several high-ranking tech leaders, including Salesforce's Marc Benioff, have followed the president's lead.
"The era of Super Intelligence is here," Benioff tweeted on Oct. 9. "AIForce is officially SIForce."
Trump ally Elon Musk is also onboard. Earlier this month, Musk tweeted that he would be rebranding SpaceXAI as SpaceXSI.
"No more AI, SI. It's better," said Musk in a separate tweet.
Despite Trump and his allies' efforts, the major players in the artificial intelligence industry, San Francisco-based OpenAI and Anthropic, appear to be sticking with calling the technology AI.
