Democrat and Republican Tied in High-Stakes Florida District

A poll showed the Democrat and Republican tied in a high-stakes Florida district race.

A poll released from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had the Florida race between Democrat Bale Dalton and Republican Ryan Elijah tied in a dead heat. Democrats said the polling results also showed President Donald Trump’s approval ratings sinking in Central Florida.

The DCCC also pointed out that Florida’s 7th Congressional District, where they say Democrat Bale Dalton in a tied race against Republican Ryan Elijah, is a district President Trump won by nearly 13 points.

The release came after Bale was endorsed by former Republican Senator and RNC Chairman Mel Martinez as well as reports that Bale outraised Elijah by 2-to-1 in recent fundraising. The Democrats also added that Laura Loomer recently revealed that she had seen polling that showed Elijah underperforming in this traditionally Republican voting district.

“This poll confirms what we’ve heard from Central Floridians over the past year: This election is about more than partisan politics,” said campaign manager MG Darmody. “Voters want a representative who will fight for them, not political parties or special interests. We’re already seeing strong voter turnout, and Bale Dalton has tapped into what our community wants most: a leader who puts Central Florida first. We know this race will come down to the wire, and we’ll fight for every vote until polls close on November 3rd. Central Floridians are ready for change, and we intend to deliver it.”

“While Bale Dalton has been building the bipartisan coalition necessary to win this district, Ryan Elijah is hemorrhaging support from his own party,” DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus said. “Floridians are tired of the status-quo politicians like Elijah who support D.C.’s reckless, cost-raising agenda. They’re ready for bold new leadership – they’re ready to elect Bale Dalton this November.”

Bale Dalton is a decorated Navy Reserve Captain and former NASA Chief of Staff. One of four raised in a hardworking Central Florida family, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and has served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve for 24 years. He deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, and the Pacific, flying Navy helicopters and directing air combat support with Navy SEALs in Afghanistan.

Following active duty, he worked for Senator Bill Nelson, helping Florida veterans access the care and benefits they had earned. After an additional stint on active duty, Bale Dalton returned to government service as NASA Chief of Staff. At NASA, he managed 16,500 employees and helped run one of the federal government’s most effective agencies. Now he is running to represent Florida’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat.
